Buyer power – when and why would there be cause for competition concerns?

A practical look into what constitutes buyer power and the circumstances where the existence of buyer power may be of concern to regulators. Following a number of European investigations into alleged mis-use of buyer power in the supermarket sector, the presentation looks into the new draft regulation of buyer power in Bulgaria, the economic pros and cons of such power, and discusses the types of purchasing practices adopted by buyers that may be construed by regulators to be harmful to competition in the market.
